SSA PAYMENT CALCULATOR 2025

Initial Payment Type Question
"Do you receive SSI, Social Security, or both?"
If they're confused, you can clarify like this: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is usually a need-based benefit, and Social Security (SS) is based on your work history and contributions. If you're not sure which one you receive, ask:

"Do you usually get your payment on the 1st, the 3rd, or later in the month — like the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday?"

If They Say: "On the 1st of the month"
✅ This is SSI (need-based assistance)
"You're receiving SSI payments — they always arrive on the 1st of each month."

If They Say: "On the 3rd of the month"
🔁 Follow-up Question:
"Have you been receiving benefits since before May 1997?"
If Yes → SS (old schedule)
"That's Social Security! The 3rd is used for those who started benefits before May 1997."
If No → Likely getting both SSI + SS
"You probably receive SSI on the 1st and Social Security on the 3rd."

If They Say: "On a Wednesday (2nd, 3rd, or 4th week)"
📆 This is Social Security (post-1997, birthday-based)
"That's Social Security. Your exact Wednesday depends on your birthday."

If They Say: "I don't know"
🔍 Verification Steps:
1. Ask if they have any payment notices or bank statements showing "SSI" or "Social Security."
2. Ask:
"Is this payment for retirement/disability — or is it low-income assistance?"
Please select your payment type

Note: Dates follow official SSA 2025 payment rules. If you don't receive your payment on the expected date, please allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security.
